Accounting Manager

Goleta – Full Time

Giffin Equipment is the largest, independently owned equipment rental company and authorized Bobcat dealership on the Central Coast with three locations in Ventura, Goleta, and Santa Maria. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual for our full-time position of Accounting Manager. As an Accounting Manager at Giffin Equipment you will oversee the company’s general ledger and financial accounting and reporting. This includes preparing and analyzing accounting reports and delivery of key financial management reports.

Primary Responsibilities

Managing a team of accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting

– Recruiting and hiring accounting and financial staff and conducting performance reviews

– Coordinating training programs for new staff and identifying training needs for current staff

– Establishing and maintaining internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions

– Overseeing the production of periodic financial reports; ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards

– Auditing accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

– Monitoring, analyzing, and implementing new accounting pronouncements

– Other duties assigned as needed

Required Skills & Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration

– At least 6 years of general accounting experience with at least one year as a manager of an accounting department preferred

– Excellent management and supervisory skills

– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

– Organizational and time management skills are critical

– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
